Black Hollywood: Blaxploitation and Advancing an Independent Black Cinema (1984)
Filmed on location in Hollywood in 1984, this probing documentary examines the ever-changing state of African-American cinema via the increasing visibility of black actors and directors, and the growing buying power of black moviegoers at the time. Highlights include interviews with Alfre Woodard, Vonetta McGee, Diahnne Abbott, Rosalind Cash and Jim Brown, plus footage of Sidney Poitier's acceptance speech for his Black Hall of Fame "Oscar."
