A Soldier's Story (1984)

Storyline
A black Army investigator (Howard E. Rollins Jr.) travels to a remote military base in the heart of the Louisiana backwoods to look into the mysterious murder of a black sergeant toward the tail end of World War II. Once he arrives, the investigator discovers an Army regiment and an entire community that, despite the beginnings of integration, is still torn apart by race and segregation. He soon learns that on this base, trust is sparse, and secrets are a currency all their own.

Heaven Sent and Ecstasy - Scrolls, the Book of Life OST (1980)

beatelectric.blogspot.com
This impossibly rare record from 1980 by Heaven Sent & Ecstasy is perhaps the only album released on Oakland's Jameiko's Records and Publishing. It was conceived as a soundtrack to the religious film Scrolls, The Book Of Life. The tracks were written and the album was produced by Barbara J. Trotter. This is a highly sought out modern soul record and can be considered a digger's holy grail. There are five upbeat boogie tunes mixed in with four ballads and a rock song. All the tracks have a raw sound with a lot of energy. It is really amazing that this is the only record that the group produced.

Cinemageddon user SourPix who kindly provides us with this gem has the following to add to the procedings:

This album, considered a "holy grail" record by funk and modern soul collectors, also has the unusual distinction of being the soundtrack to a Bay Area black religious film by the name of Scrolls, the Book of Life, which must have been one hell of a film if the soundtrack is any indication. Also included on the album are some songs not on the soundtrack, as an added, funky bonus. The lp rip is mine, great condition, a very few spots of very minimal surface noise. By the way, some time ago I put out a request for the film.

Who are we at Blaaxploitationpride not to try and help the FUNKY?
This is an all out call for anyone who might have any leads on this most Funky Gospelized Feature. Reach out to the community with a comment or two, who knows we might finally bring it back to the public eye again?
